Safe & Happy Halloween

Halloween is almost here! Be sure you and your home stay protected; the following tips will keep the night safe and fun.

  • Use a circuit strip to avoid overloading your electrical system.
  • Inspect cords and light sets and if damaged, discard.
  • Don't use lights with empty sockets or let lights touch flammable materials.
  • Fasten outdoor lights securely with insulated staples, not nail or tacks.
  • Make sure the exit doors are not blocked by any decorating items.
  • Use battery powered lanterns or chemical light sticks in place of candles in jack-o'-lanterns.
  • Eliminate tripping hazards on porch and walkway.
  • All children and their escorts should have flashlight with fresh batteries.
  • Make sure the shoes fit well and that costumes are short enough to prevent tripping, entanglement or contact with flame.
  • Turn off outdoor lights when you run out of candy.

By just taking a few extra precautions, you and your family can have a safe and happy Halloween.
